In a summer that has a jammed packed schedule filled with big events Brighton Speedway and the Southern Ontario Sprints have teamed up for one more!  When the Schedule was released three weeks ago fans and drivers were pleasantly surprised to see the addition of the Watson Building Supplies SOS Show Down in Brighton brought to you in part by Watson Building Supplies, Aaron Auto and Sanderson Automotive!  This first year event will be the biggest paying sprint car event in Brighton Speedway and the SOS history with a $2,500.00 cheque waiting for the winner in Victory Lane.  The 2,500.00 to win race will be 25 laps and will start up to 25 cars!  Qualifying will be determined by a pill draw and a re-draw for the feature.

“This event will be a great addition to our Schedule and we are looking forward to it drawing in a few more cars from the Niagra and Burlington region where sprint cars are so popular” states track promoter Mark Rinaldi.  “The SOS has been a staple in the Speedways schedule for 16 years and counting, they have always put on a great show and is a great group of guys to work with, now we are just giving a little back!” Rinaldi continues.

Brighton fans love the cars and stars of the SOS series and have filled the stands ever since the first race on July 19th, 1997 which was won by John Brutcher.  Over the years there has been a number of different winners have greeted Brighton Speedways fans in victory lane with Rick Wilson leading the way picking up his first win in 1999 and winning 19 along the way with 4 victories last season alone.  Glen Styres, the Ohsweken Flyer was shut out in 2011 at Brighton but has 10 wins and sits second at Brighton Speedway in Sprint car wins with team mate Keith Dempster in third with 7 wins.  All three are fan favorite’s at Brighton.

As a special bonus for the fans on this big night fans are able to upgrade their ticket to a full pit pass for just $5.00 more so they can visit the pits and see the cars and race teams up close and personal throughout the night. Advance tickets and pit pass will be available prior to the event.  “This is the first time we are offering this option as we want to give the fans a chance to get more interactive with their favorite drivers and see what really goes on behind the scenes on a race night” states Rinaldi.

“This event along with the other marquee events throughout the summer really makes for an awesome schedule, we have Applefest which is now a Super Dirt Car Series Event for the first time ever, the Labour Day Classic Double Header for the SOS Sprints, the $5,000 to win Great Crate Race for Late Models and the new Summer Slam $10,000.00 to win enduro and it is an exciting season ahead of us and I can’t wait” Race Director Rob Edger says.

Joining the SOS Show Down that night will be the Vanderlaan Building Supplies Late Models, the Bainers Radiator Canadian Modifieds, Brighton Automotive Pro Stocks and the Bil’s Johns Comp 4.
