The Great Crate Race at Brighton Speedway is now just a few days away and the Brighton Speedway staff are making final preparations as McDougall Insurance & Financial presents the 3rd annual event.  It will be a 65 lap race, paying more than $5000 to win in cash and contingencies with a total payout in excess of $20000.

McDougall’s Insurance & Financial returns as the title sponsor of this event, with additional backing from Excel Tower Service, Brighton Speedway, Hotch’s Auto Parts, Dibbitt’s Excavating Ltd., King Landscaping, John’s Equipment, Tenacious Racing, and Finish Line Web Design.

With Lee Gill taking the win in the inaugural event in 2011, and Chuck Meyers picking up the win in 2012, the Brighton Speedway regulars will be looking to defend their home turf on Saturday night, and keep the $5000 winners share and the prestige that comes with winning such a big event in their own backyard.  Charlie Sandercock and Corey Earl have been battling all season long for the track championship, and add in Phil Potts, Greg Belyea, Steve Baldwin, Caley Weese and a host of other legitimate contenders, taking on several invaders such as current Go Nuclear Series point leader and defending champion Dale Caswell, AJ Kingsley, and Rick Miller.

In addition to the Great Crate Race, the Canadian Modifieds also have big money on the line with the $2000 to win Danny Reid Memorial event on the same night.  Current Canadian Modified point leader Ryan Scott is also the defending winner of the Danny Reid Memorial, and he will be back looking to claim the win once again, while Andrew Hennessey, Dan Ferguson and several others will be looking to win the biggest event of the season.

General Admission for this event is only $15 for adults, $10 for Youths and Seniors and only $4 for children ages 7 to 12.  Children six years of age and under are admitted FREE to the main grandstand area.  Gates will open at 5:30pm with racing action getting underway at 7pm.
