Brighton Speedway ready for Bay Marine Winterfest

By Clayton Johns – Brighton Speedway is set to host the 11th annual edition of Bay Marine Winterfest. The 2014 edition of the two race series will kick off on Saturday, January 25 with snowmobile, four-wheeler, ice bikes, and endurance racing.

The entire 1/3-mile clay oval, which hosts weekly dirt racing from May to August, has been covered with ice. Track promoter Mark Rinaldi has spent several weeks preparing the best possible racing surface for the event.

“This is a fun event,” said Rinaldi. “We like to put this show on every year for the community.”

Four divisions of amateur snowmobile classes will be accompanied by four divisions of four-wheeler classes. Additionally, there will be snowmobile and four-wheeler divisions for children aged 8-13 and 14-17. Ice bike racing will be on the card.

Some divisions require pre-registration online at

Admission to the event is just $10 per person, and children 10 and under are admitted free of charge. VIP seating is also available. Gates will open at 9:00am for competitors with racing set to get underway at 11:00am. Admission to the pit area is also $10 per person.

The second round of the two-part event will run on Saturday, February 15 with the same start times. Both events are subject to weather conditions.
