Cold Stone Creamery Race to Read Kicks Off
Today marks to the beginning of a challenge for local grade three classes as Brighton Speedway presents for the 8th year running the Race to Read Program.
The Tim Hortons new Coldstone Creamery Ice Cream Racing to Read Program is a program used to encourage students in grade 3 to read outside of school, which in turn helps to promote literacy within our communities. The students are encouraged to read at home with their parents. The time they spend reading is logged along with their parent’s signature and then returned to the school.
This is a great way for schools to work with their community partners to promote literacy at a local level. The program provides students with an incentive to read!
The Speedwaywill track and accumulate all minutes and then post them, by school, on the internet (www.brightonspeedway.com) so students can check out their standings against the other schools.
Each participating student will also receive a prize package from Tim Hortons new Coldstone Creamery Ice Cream. The winning class will win a Pizza Party with Speedway Drivers and will be invited onto the track to be recognized as the winning class in the Tim Hortons new Coldstone Creamery Ice Cream Racing to Read Program.
The race begins on Monday with 10 classes and 155 participants. We look forward to an exciting two weeks! Check back next weekend for the results from week one of the Race to Read Program.
