While the weekly dirt racing season is drawing to a close in the northeast the action is just beginning to heat up. September means big races and big money on the line. It will be no different at Brighton Speedway as the track prepares for the 9th Annual Applefest Shootout Weekend. Both the DIRTcar Sportsman and DIRTcar 358 Modified tours will be in town on Friday, September 20th and Saturday, September 21st.

The best drivers from both divisions will be in attendance as the title chases gather steam before heading into Super DIRT Week in Syracuse and the DIRTcar Fall Nationals in Brockville. 2013 will mark the second season in a row that the Applefest Shootout is a 100 Lap 358 Modified DIRTcar tour event. The stop at Brighton will be race 9 of the 13 race series.

The action kicks off on Friday night and will feature 35 laps for the DIRTcar Sportsman Series. TUSA Mod-Lites, Pro Stocks, Vintage Modifieds, Comp 4′s and Stingers will also be on the card. The following night the Small Block Modifieds take to the 1/3 mile clay oval for the 9th edition of the Applefest Shootout.

Joining the 358′s will be the TUSA Mod-Lites competing for the Canadian National Championship. DIRTcar Pro Late Models and Canadian Modifieds will also be a part of the show along with the Duel in the Dirt for Pro Stocks.

The Applefest Shootout Weekend got its beginning in 2005 as an idea born on an online forum. Since that time it has grown into one of the most anticipated weekends in dirt track racing in Ontario. From the inaugural non-points format to last season’s fully sanctioned DIRTcar tour race the event has become bigger and better every year. The 2013 version promises to be another ‘can’t miss’ show.

Both Mario Clair (2012 & 2007) and Pete Bicknell (2010 & 2008) enter the Applefest Shootout as two-time winners of the event. Tim O’Brien (2011) and Kyle Dingwall (2005) each have one win a piece while weather captured the podium in 2009 and 2006.

Racing at Brighton Speedway begins Friday, September 20th at 7pm and continues Saturday, September 21st at 6pm. No rain date is scheduled for the weekend’s events. For more information and directions visit www.BrightonSpeedway.com or www.ImageFactor.ca/ApplefestShootout.
