BRIGHTON (June 4, 2014) – Brighton Speedway returns to action as Lang & Fetter Ford present the first of two Workman’s OK Tire School Bus races Saturday, June 7. The fan favourite buses are sure to provide plenty of excitement as they do every year. They will also return for the Eve of Destruction on September 28.

Rick SopazThe wildly popular buses always fill the stands, so be sure to get to the track early. Special admission for the buses is in effect, but adults are still just $12. Youths and seniors are $10. A $35 family pass offers admission for two adults, two children, and comes with a family-sized popcorn.

In addition to the buses, all five stock car divisions are in action for a full night of racing.

The Vanderlaan Building Supplies Pro Late Models will headline the night once again. Four different drivers have won in as many races so far this season, with Brandon Mowat (No.46 Target Fabrication Inc.) picking up his first career win last week. Charlie Sandercock (No.57 Bellevue Fabricating) enters June with a 50-point lead over Steve Baldwin (No.5 at the top of the division standings.

IMG_8388The OilGARD Anti-Rust Canadian Modifieds have been arguably the most exciting division so far this season. Three different drivers have won three different races. Dale Locke (No.13 Allore Haulage), Adam Whaley (No.12 John’s Equipment), and Andrew Hennessy (No.87 Custom Automotive) have all found victory lane. The division hosts the closest points battle as well. Whaley leads Doug O’Blenis (No.32 John’s Car Care) by just five points and just five points separate the top-five.

Doug Anderson (No.72 Hunt’s Bobcat Service) has dominated the Brighton Automotive Pro Stock division so far this season. Since Justin Ramsay (No.03 Empey Tire) won on opening night, Anderson has been perfect. But Leslie Mowat (No.2 Cormers Auto Recycling) has been a strong challenger. She sits just 60 points back of Anderson for the division lead. Ramsay is third, 150 markers back of Anderson, while Wade Purchase (No.53 Paul Turner Auto Repair) is fourth, 10 points behind Ramsay.

The Bill’s Johns Comp 4 division has yielded three different winners this year.  Riley Greer (No.47 Clark’s Automotive) won his first career feature after his brother Brady Greer (No.94 Greer Excavating) won the opening two nights. Terry Hough (No.32 The Vinyl Solution) won on May 24. Hough will open up June as the points leader and a 35-point lead over Rich Sanders (No.29 Fowl Mood Racing).

The Quinte Septic Stingers enter their third night of competition this year. Del MacGregor (No.19 R. Ward Construction) has won both events so far. Geoff York (No.3 Patterson Auto Parts) has been a top contender along with Jordan Pickell (No.93 Sowerby Signs). Pickell trails MacGregor by 70 points in chase for the division championship.
