The Great Crate Race at Brighton Speedway has turned into a great tradition over the past couple years, and it is back by popular demand in 2013.  Mark your calendar for Saturday, September 7th as McDougall Insurance & Financial presents the 3rd annual event.  It will be a 65 lap race, paying more than $5000 to win in cash and contingencies with a total payout in excess of $20000.

Although this race is still more than 3 months away, the planning for such a big event is well underway.  Car counts are expected to be astronomical with such a high purse.  Pre Registration will be open soon, and a complete entry list will be available on the Great Crate Race website once they start coming in.

McDougall’s Insurance & Financial returns as the title sponsor of this event, with additional backing from Excel Tower Service, Brighton Speedway, Hotch’s Auto Parts, Dibbitt’s Excavating Ltd., King Landscaping, John’s Equipment, Tenacious Racing, and Finish Line Web Design.

Lee Gill took the checkered flag in the first ever Great Crate Race on September 17th, 2011.  Last year it was Chuck Meyers taking the win, after rain forced track officials to postpone the event to a Sunday afternoon event.  Brighton Speedway regulars will be looking to keep the title at home this year, with defending Brighton Speedway Late Model champion Corey Earl leading the way along with Phil Potts, Greg Belyea and several other top Brighton Speedway Late Model competitors.

In addition to the Great Crate Race, the Canadian Modifieds also have big money on the line with the $2000 to win Danny Reid Memorial event on the same night.  More information will be released over the coming weeks leading up to the race regarding ticket prices, and details regarding these two great events scheduled for Saturday, September 7th.

Be sure to get to Brighton Speedway on Thursday, June 20th as the World of Outlaw Late Models make their maiden voyage to Brighton Speedway.  All the top stars of the World of Outlaws will be on hand as they make their swing through Ontario and Quebec.  Visit the Brighton Speedway website listed below.
